Hi guys, today my story is about Marlin Punta Cana, namely the Lucky one, marlin that we caught today, with whom we took pictures and then let him go! Why the lucky one, you probably already guessed))) well because he survived and only experienced a very short photo session, with a shower every 15 seconds. 

HOW MUCH IS MARLIN FISH WORTH?

After all, in order that the fish would not start to choke and fall asleep, it is necessary, of course, to put water on them, which we did! But I want to tell you that in the Dominican Republic, Marlin fish is under state protection. And the killing of these fish is prosecuted by the law, but this does not stop most of the fishermen from fishing. Why? – you ask! Because Marlin meat is very expensive. Of course, everything depends on the size and weight of the fish, but sometimes they cost up to 10000 $.

So, back to our “lucky Marlin PUNTA CANA”. We went to the ocean, as usual. The mood was excellent, but the weather conditions are too calm for the Atlantic and for trolling. Wind and waves were at a minimum, there was calmness in the ocean. As you probably already guessed, calm is not the best weather for Trolling, and the bite, as practice shows, when calm is pretty bad. Our guests from Florida, on the contrary, rejoiced at the calm ocean. The first hour of fishing was nearing its end, and more than one fishing rod did not work with us. The first assistant worked diligently, checking the bait now and then cleaning one or the other of sargasso algae.

And finally that magic sound of the reel! Yes, what! We immediately realized that we caught Marlin because only he can exhaust the line with such speed and force! The first mate, in one jump, he was near the fishing rod and did a hook-up. He sat tight on our hook, and the struggle began! Our guests on a break replaced each other, tried, fought and let the fish board the boat. But our “lucky” turned out to be very strong and stubborn, he resisted from all his fish forces. The guys pulled him up, the girls stood with clenched fists and watched the fishing line! Several times we saw him jumping out of the water and performing a “dance on the tail,” each of his jumps caused a lot of emotions, shouts, and applause. It was awesome!

 But the “lucky” did not give up, he carefully led to the depths. The captain skillfully worked with motors, not allowing the fish to go under the boat! And now, after 40-50 minutes of struggle, he was already near, his saber nose began to emerge from the water. One helper cannot cope, do not pull this giant out of the water, so as not to damage it. The captain shouted at me to replace him at the helm. In two they will cope, the fish will remain alive and unharmed! Another 5-10 minutes of resistance and the assistant grabbed our “lucky” by the nose and together with the captain they dragged him aboard!

 I hasten to say that Marlin is probably the most dangerous and unpredictable fish! And of course the fastest! They can reach speeds of up to 120 kilometers per hour. At the same time, they swallow a small fish and pierce a larger fish with their sword-nosed. You need to be very careful next to him, at any moment he can twist and strike with his sharp, long bone-like nose! But as I have already said, the captain and assistant fishermen with experience and know the behavior of these fish very well!

 Let’s return to our story! Marlin – the lucky one kicked out of all his strength trying to free himself, but the assistant’s grip was strong. We explained to our guests that we need to quickly take photos and let this handsome man go back to the depths of the ocean. The guys tried to do everything very quickly, but they wanted a little more frames. The captain managed to collect sea water in a bucket and field our “long-nosed model.” All the shots are done, the lucky one is still breathing, but it is time for him to get into the water, otherwise, it will be too late Our guests all see understand and agree. The helper lowers the “lucky one” into the water, holds him by the nose and drags him through the water. In this way, the fish regains consciousness. Another 1-2 minutes and the “lucky” already came to his senses and of course, he resisted. At this moment, the assistant releases him, our guests applaud and wave to the “lucky man”.

“Lucky” is alive and the guests are happy, what could be better! Fishing is not over yet, but it has already succeeded! It remains to take at least one fish to treat our guests with the most delicious fish steak from freshly caught fish.

 The captain adds a turn and shouts to us that we would pull up fishing rods! He saw many hunting birds on the horizon. We add a turn and rush to meet our prey! After 10 minutes, the stroke is again lowered, we throw out the bait and freeze in anticipation of the magic sound of the coil! But no! Circle, second, nothing happens! The captain already decides to leave this place and suddenly a click and a pop! And click and crack coil! Luck! Two fish at once on a hook! Left and pull out. Our guests diligently pull and here on the surface gold green spots already appeared! Two Mahi Mahi!

 We take them with us and go to our favorite lagoon to cook grilled fish for our guests. Fishing went well, despite the fact that the Atlantic was in calm, and according to all forecasts, the bite was not expected! But as I wrote in one of my articles, many factors affect the bite (for example, pressure, weather conditions, wind direction, and others). But the main thing is the mood and belief that you will take your trophy!
