Mahi Mahi fishing in Punta Cana

Hello guys! Today my article will be about one of the most beautiful Mahi-Mahi fish. It dwells in tropical and subtropical waters of Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian Oceans. So, let’s start from the beginning and decide what is the right name of that fish!
What kind of fish is Mahi?
In Hawaii the name of that fesh is Mahi-Mahi, and later spread to all the islands the Caribbean. Fish belong to the class of ray-finned fish and a group of figurine-shaped, genus coryphons and a large coryphene view. In other words, this fish is known under the name Dolphin fish, mainly so it is called in Spain. In England this fish name Big Korifen. In Russia and the USA this fish called Golden Dorado.

Is it a white fish?
Of course, yes! This type of fish is one of the best for eating. And the meat is truly white.
The nutritional value of the meat of this fish is full of all sorts of useful to the human body
substances. Moreover, there is no prohibition to catch this species.
Mahi Mahi fish taste
Firstly this fish is good for food! Moreover, it is a delicacy. It is juiciness and tenderness, and at the same time, the fat content of fish mahi-mahi is quite low. Secondly, for culinary purposes, it is customary to bake or fry or boil it, the meat can be cut in any variants of cutting, depending on the recipe of the dish. It is not only tasty but also useful for the human body. By the meat of this fish a large number of trace elements useful for the human body, Vitamin and other beneficial substances. In other words, in the meat of this beautiful green oceans hunter whole mineral set and vitamin complex.
Fish that inhabit the open oceans are especially useful, its meat is rich
mineral salts. It is very useful to eat this meat is constant.
Fillet
In other words that fish contains fat-soluble vitamin A and a number of water-soluble vitamins.
(B5, B12, B9, B6, B3 (PP), B1 and B2), as well as minerals (micro and macro elements)
This fillet is the most exquisite delicacies. Its structure is dense but at the same time very tender slightly pinkish meat. It has a pleasant sweet taste. Something very similar to the taste of the fish grouper, also in this fish almost never appear small bones, only big ones, or rather the skeleton itself. Accordingly, it is very convenient to clean and cook. In other words, according to all these advantages, this fish belongs to the category of expensive.
If you’re cooking big fillets in the oven, then do not keep it for more than 10 minutes (of course, depends on the recipe, but remember that the fillet itself preparing very quickly). To cook this meat for sup will take a little longer, about fifteen minutes. From other side on the grill and pan, it is enough to fry for 1.5-2 minutes on each side. The large Dorado is up to 1.5 meters long and weigh up to 40 kilograms, respectively.
Way to cook that fish
For cooking a giant is most likely you will need to cut it into large pieces of fillet. In case the fish comes across young ones, them the size of it will be up to 50 cm. This fish you can cook as a whole. In this case, it is recommended to do 2 or 3 notches on the thick, fleshy sides so that the fish can evenly reach readiness.
Perhaps the most delicious thing I try with that meat was the white wine sauce, lemon oil or olives, grated with tomato. For garnish you can cook boiled shoot, asparagus, rice or vegetables. And of course, white wine! You need to drink white wine after eating a slice of file and only then you will feel the aftertaste.
On the other hand in fish restaurants in Malta, they serve large ones baked whole, with the head and tail. In the islands of the Caribbean, most often you will find this fish in baked form also. For our fishermen guests, we cook grilled fillets right on the water after fishing.
When the most tasty Dorado
However I have heard many times the opinion that the most delicious dorado is the one that was caught in the autumn period. I do not agree with this opinion, because there is no difference in the taste of fish. The taste of fish is the same in any period of her catch. Dorado fillet can be different only because of the size of the fish. Adults individuals that have reached a size of 1.5 meters. Certainly it is less tender and tasty than young ones. But to find in the sale meet of the carcass giant Dorado is almost impossible. Exception of those countries where commercial or sport fishing is carried out. Gourmets prefer of course young fish that those who have reached a maximum size. It is good for frying pan or oven.
Above all in Spain, there is one old recipe for making Big Korifen. The fish is packed whole in salt and put in the oven. In this case, the meat absorbs exactly the amount of salt that is needed and becomes amazingly tender and juicy. Of course, fish cooked in such a demand will decorate your table.

Grilled Mahi Mahi Recipe
In conclusion cooking this fish on the grill is probably the easiest way.
Before grilling fish, it is necessary to cut it into medium pieces and send it to the herb marinade and olive oil.
The marinated fillet is not very long about 30 minutes. After that, carefully lay the fillet on the grill and fry on both sides until golden brown. Frying time about 3-4 minutes on each side.
Grilled vegetables are also suitable for garnish.
Cooking
Certainly one of my all-time favorite recipes is a filet marinated with spices, lemon juice, soy sauce and baked in the oven with onions, tomatoes, and potatoes under a golden mayonnaise-cheese layer.
Cooking is quick and easy.
Firstly: separate the fish fillets from the bone, cut into medium pieces and drop them in the marinade for 1 hour.
To make the marinade we need olive oil, soy sauce and Provencal herbs.
Mix all the ingredients and the marinade is ready!
Secondly: prepare the container, in which we will bake our fish. Coat the whole container with olive oil.
Put on the bottom of thinly chopped potatoes. The thinner you cut, the better it will be baked.
And on top, place the onion sliced into rings Next, we add pepper and sprinkle with spices. Laying our layer cooked and pickled fillets. After that goes slices of tomatoes and onion rings, then another layer of potatoes seasonings and salt. And the last is a layer of mayonnaise and grated cheese.
The third stage: All this beauty goes in the oven and bake at a temperature of 180 degrees for about 45 minutes.

Legend about Mahi
Short but beautiful legend is connected with this truly ordinary and beautiful fish! And this legend about love!
Once upon a time, when the ancient Greek Gods were still descending on our earth. The Goddess of love Aphrodite, seeing how often seafarers lost their loved ones due to long absence at home, decided to give one fish a magical power to fasten hearts. According to legend, Aphrodite went down to the earth and kissed
the female fish Mahi in the forehead. Please note that it is the female (after all, Mah-Mahi is probably one from not many species of fish, which can be determined visually, by the structure of the skull, it is female or male). So, kissing the female on the forehead, Aphrodite left a mark of gold in the place where she touched her lips. And if you believe the legend, then anyone who does not have love in life or his love is unrequited, or loved ones are in a quarrel, having kissed this fish in a forehead will surely find love! Yes, it’s just a beautiful legend, you say …
Maybe and Maybe not
Maybe you’ll be right, and maybe not! In my life, I saw a lot of different types of fish (considering that my hobby, and at the moment my job is fishing) and fish I meet almost every day. Each time i tell to the girls who come to us for fishing about this beautiful legend.
Believe it or not, almost every girl who was fishing with me kissed it in her green golden mark on her forehead.Guess what? Most of them found the love.
I, unlike many other representatives of fishing charters, like to maintain friendly relations with my clients.
It happens that I often get messages of similar content: “Lena, Mahi’s magic worked! I met a guy who had dreamed for so long! ”.
Agree it’s always nice to receive such messages) I call it “Mahi bonus for Love”
